Toothache? Let the pain go away through reflexology

The other day, my 18-year old niece ran up to me and said: “Aunt Camila, my toothache has been bugging me since this morning.”

I held her hand, and with a smile, I replied: “Don’t worry, girl. I can help you with that.”

In a matter of an hour, her pain surrendered to the effects of reflexology I did on her.

When you have a toothache you usually head to the drugstore to buy pain killers. This could be helpful. However, there are days when a toothache over powers any drug medication. This makes you take more and more pain killers, which can be detrimental to your health. When the pain persists for more than a day, the best thing to do is to visit the dentist’s clinic. For the meantime, when there’s no way of reaching to your doctor, reflexology may be able to help alleviate or reduce the pain.

How does the method work? A professional reflexologist, like me, finds the point on the patient's hand or feet that needs attention to. The process begins by applying gentle pressure to that point and followed by a moment of rest. Then the reflexologist starts to work on that spot with a rhythmic pattern until the pain subsides.

Foot Lose: Dance where your feet go

Dancing has always been a passion of mine, for me dancing is not just an art form. A rhythmical performance where the body is the brush and the moment is the canvas. No, for me dancing is the only way my soul can break free. Although for the record I am not a good dancer, the best dance step I could make is standing still while someone dances around me. It does not deter me from dancing in my own home, however. (or at a bar after eight shots of tequila)

As a reflexologist, the highlight of my day is when I am attending to the needs of my ballet dancing friends. You see a have always had a soft spot for feet that have been worn by dancing. Some of my friends jokingly refer to it as my grotesque foot fetish.( And sometimes I think it is.)

But it’s more than being sexually aroused in the presence of feet. The feelings I have is that of tender respect, each callous is caused by a pirouette, each blister formed because of rigorous training, the veins that protrude on the delicate skin is like the wings of a dragon; it shows the strain of the dancers as they unfurl their wings and submit to the fiery embrace of the music.

I admit I have this small pang of jealousy whenever I watch my friends explode in a whirl of arms and legs, but I have learned that dancing is not just about perfect choreographed synchronicity, but it’s about surrendering to your own rhythm and dancing the hell out of it.
